Working with little or no direct supervision, the Building Supervisor is responsible for enforcing the Bettendorf Community Center rules and regulations, opening and closing of the facility, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility and its activities according to established procedures. This individual will report to the Building Manager. This individual is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.

Responsibilities

  1. Know and enforce the building rules. Present a good image; treat everyone with respect and courtesy.
  2. Follow all opening/closing procedures; monitor the building inside and out; shut off lights, keep exits, entrances, and hallways clear, stay visible to renters and general public, and take attendance.
  3. Responsible for checking daily schedule for additions, cancellations, and renter instructions; and prepare daily signage using clear handwriting and correct spelling.
  4. Responsible for general office duties including cash collection, check emails, utilize computer software, sell program shirts, collect rental fees, manage keys, manage first aid supplies, and write receipts; and other duties as assigned.
  5. Responsible for gym and room setups/teardowns including volleyball nets/posts/stands, chairs/bleachers, garbage cans/bags, tables, chairs, coffee pots, A/V equipment, sporting equipment, and overall cleanliness as required for each rental. At the conclusion of each rental, prepare that area for the next renter’s instructions.
  6. Responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service to renters and general public entering the building. This includes additional setup assistance, temperature control, offering cleaning supplies, answering questions, completing rental paperwork, and selling t-shirts.
  7. Allow, within reason, changes to the rental schedule if space and time allow. Report all room/gym rental changes to the appropriate staff.
  8. Responsible for minor custodial duties during your shift including emptying garbage, restocking bathroom supplies, flushing toilets, mopping up spills, stocking vending machine, and general cleaning of rental area for the next renter if the previous renter did not clean up before they left (kitchen/sink area, floors, appliances, tables/chairs, garbage, and general appearance).
  9. Report any/all issues, damages, and/or injuries to the appropriate staff. Do not allow potentially dangerous activities or public loitering to go on in the building. 

Qualifications

Education: The job requires the knowledge normally acquired with a high school diploma or GED.

 

Experience: Prior experience with customer service, cash collections, and light custodial duties are preferred.

 

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate effectively and to interact with citizens and fellow employees.

 

Working Conditions: Involves physical effort which requires walking, climbing stairs, and frequently lifting materials weighing 20 to 45 pounds.

 

Schedule: Seeking an individual who is capable of working evenings Monday – Friday  from 5:30 – 10:30 pm and cover both weekend shifts of either 7:30 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm. It is important to note that closing shifts on the weekend depend on what rentals are going on at the time. Typically, closing shifts on Saturdays – Sunday will range anywhere from 7:30 – 10:30pm.
