Under the guidance of day camp managers, the Site Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, implementation, and administration of the daily summer activities for the day camp program for children 5 - 12 years of age. Site Managers will be directly responsible for supervising their assigned group of staff and children, and assisting with whole group activities. The day camp is located at Middle Park in Bettendorf, takes field trips to various locations, and swims at Splash Landing. Work with children in an outdoor setting.



  1. Oversees the daily program at their site, including interaction with activity leaders and  children.
  2. Plans and organizes a daily schedule of activities and themes for the summer.
  3. Submits equipment and supply requests for purchase. Collects monies for field trips and special events.
  4. May assist in the recruiting and selection process of Activity Leaders.
  5. Actively participates in preparation and delivery of staff training initiatives to provide  Activity Leaders with the information they need to do their jobs.
  6. Guides individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities
  7. Follows all established rules, procedures, health and safety requirements.
  8. Maintains a positive attitude while serving as a good role model to campers in personal  language, appearance, punctuality, health habits, sharing in clean-up, and sportsmanship.          
  9. Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities
  10. Maintains good public relations with campers' parents, and rapport with other staff
  11. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required


Education: A level of knowledge normally acquired through some college course work with a emphasis in Recreation, Elementary Education, Physical Education or closely related field.


Experience: Six months to one year of previous leadership experience working with children. Experience of supervision of staff desirable.


Interpersonal Skills: The job requires the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with participants, parents and staff. Ability to accept supervision and guidance. Ability to relate to one's peer group. Needs to be enthusiastic, have a sense of humor, patience, and self-control. Also important are good character, integrity, and adaptability. The desire to affect the life of each child in a positive and rewarding way. Requires the analytical ability to carry out activities suitable for the age groups. Must be able to follow established rules and procedures


Working Conditions: Must be able to work outside in sometimes hot/humid conditions.


Job Requirements: Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. Ability to assist in teaching an activity. Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Card (training will be offered).
