Working with little direction the supervisor is responsible for the planning, organizing, and implementation of a neighborhood recreation program for four and five year olds.



  1. Assists in interviewing and hiring a staff or leaders.
  2. Plans a basic schedule for the program including, field trips, and special events.
  3. Working with the Recreation Manager, establish the equipment and supplies needed and prepares summary report at conclusion of program.
  4. Coordinates arts with Craft Program with Cultural Arts Center.
  5. Conducts in-service meetings to insure program goals will be achieved.
  6. Monitors activities, interacts with participants, parents and staff in a positive manner.
  7. Submits paperwork in a timely manner, including a program report at the conclusion.


Education: Level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of three years of college with an emphasis in recreation, elementary education, or closely related field.


Experience: Six months to one year leadership level experience working with pre-school age youngsters.


Interpersonal Skills: Position requires effective communication skills.  Must be perceptive and persuasive in dealing with public, training subordinates, etc.


Working Conditions: Requires the ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.


Job Requirements: Requires non-routine and non-recurring analysis abilities. Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. Ability to assist in teaching an activity. Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Card (training will be offered).
