Working under the supervision of the Dance Coordinator and the Museum Director, the Museum/Dance Educator will help design and implement curriculum and dance instruction for children aged 3 to 18 years old. Working within a collaborative environment, duties include teaching and choreographing pieces for non-competitive levels in at least two of the following styles: ballet, modern, jazz, tap, or hip hop; Additional duties may include performing general Museum related activities, and assisting with special event programming including in house and community performances by the Family Museum Dance Company.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through a high school degree or above.
Experience: Minimum of one year experience assisting or volunteering in a dance class. Prior dance teaching experience preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Interpersonal Skills: Must be exceptional in the ability to relate to children and parents; build a following of clients, and maintain rapport throughout extended public exposure. Must implement instruction under the guidelines of the Dance Coordinator, and Museum Director and within the values set forth in the Family Museum mission.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and stoop in order to effectively instruct children in groups for multiple consecutive hours. Ability to move equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires high energy levels and stamina.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working Conditions: Work is performed in dance studios, Museum Great Hall, Exhibits, and occasionally at an outside venue, in the sight of the public, or in an off-site auditorium.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday afternoon/evenings, may be required to work a split shift one day per week. Occasional weekends to accommodate special events.
