GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty operating a city transit bus; and performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education:
Requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through the successful completion of high school or a GED equivalency.
Experience:
Requires six (6) to twelve (12) months of successful work experience in operating a vehicle on public thoroughfares.
Must possess, and maintain throughout the duration of employment, a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with passenger endorsement.
Analytical Abilities:
Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written procedures and instructions. The successful candidate shall have knowledge of State and city traffic regulations, signs, and signals.
Interpersonal Skills:
Requires excellent interpersonal skills necessary to listen and effectively communicate with a variety of individuals. Must be an effective team player and requires the ability to work independently.
Working Conditions:
Required to operate a motor vehicle safely in all weather conditions and sit for extended periods of time.

Work Schedule:
This position requires on-call responsibilities. Successful applicants will be paid $100/week for on-call pay, regardless of hours worked. Applicant must be available to cover shifts as needed. The morning shift runs from 5:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and the evening shift runs from 12:10 p.m. to 7:10 p.m., Monday through Friday. Cleaning and other minor administrative tasks may be scheduled in instances where no shifts are needed to be covered. Occasional Saturday or Sunday hours may be required for bus cleaning and training purposes. Generally, work hours will not exceed 19 hours per week, but could be as low as zero (0), depending on the scheduling needs of the department.

Reports to: Transit Operations Manager
Supervises: Not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
